California Wage Order #14 – Agricultural Occupations Poster

The California Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) Wage Orders regulate wages, hours and working conditions.  Employers must comply with the IWC Wage Order and California labor laws applicable to their business or industry.

“Employed in an agricultural occupation” means any of the following described occupations:

  • The preparation, care, and treatment of farm land, pipeline, or ditches
  • Leveling for agricultural purposes, plowing, disking, and fertilizing the soil
  • The sowing and planting of any agricultural or horticultural commodity
  • The care of any agricultural or horticultural commodity
  • Cultivation, irrigation, weed control, thinning, heating, pruning, or tying, fumigating, spraying, and dusting
  • The harvesting of any agricultural or horticultural commodity
  • Picking, cutting, threshing, mowing, knocking off, field chopping, bunching, baling, balling, field packing
  • The assembly and storage of any agricultural or horticultural commodity
  • The raising, feeding and management of livestock,
  • Management of fur bearing animals, poultry, fish, mollusks, and insects
  • Herding, housing, hatching, milking, shearing, handling eggs, and extracting honey
  • The harvesting of fish, as defined by Section 45 of the Fish and Game Code, for commercial sale
  • The conservation, improvement or maintenance of such farm and its tools and equipment.

Posting Requirement:

California Labor Code section 1183(d) provides, “Every employer who is subject to an order of the commission shall post a copy of the order and keep it posted in a conspicuous location frequented by employees during the hours of the workday.”
