The North Carolina OSH Notice to Employees provides information on the Occupational Safety and Health Act administered under North Carolina’s State Plan. There is a section on N.C. Department of Labor responsibilities, a section on employer rights and responsibilities, and a section on employee rights and responsibilities.

The OSH Notice was updated in October 2016 to reflect changes to federal OSHA regulations that were automatically adopted by operation of North Carolina law. The OSHA Final Rule issued 5/12/16 requires all employers to inform their employees of their right to report work-related injuries and illnesses free from discrimination and retaliation.

Posting Requirement

The North Carolina Commissioner of Labor requires all private sector employers to post the English-language  OSH Notice to Employees and the Wage and Hour Act posting, unless exempt from the Acts. Exempt employees include: employees whose safety and health are under the protection of the Atomic Energy Act of 1964, employees engaged in all maritime activities, and railroad employees whose safety and health are protected Title 49 of the US Code.
