For lobbies and x-ray areas of doctors, dentists, clinics, laboratories and other health facilities. Be sure your patients are aware they should inform you if they are pregnant or think they might be before receiving drugs or being exposed to x-rays.
29 CFR 1904 requires employers to report work-related injuries. The Sharps Injury Log must be maintained for 5 years.
The Sharps Log must contain the following:
• Information about the injury
• Type and brand of device involved in the injury
• Department or work area where the exposure occurred
• Explanation of how the incident occurred
The log must be recorded and maintained in such a manner so as to protect the confidentiality of the injured employee.
