The Colorado Drinking Age Poster informs the public of the state drinking age law, which makes it illegal for a person to sell whiskey, wine, or beer to any person under the age of twenty-one (21). It is also illegal for a person under the age of twenty-one to possess or attempt to purchase alcohol.
The Colorado Drinking Age Poster stipulates that identification cards which appear to be fraudulent may be confiscated by the establishment and turned over the law enforcement. It also reminds patrons that it is illegal for a person over the age of twenty-one to purchase alcohol for a person below the legal drinking age.
The poster also informs individuals that fines and imprisonment may be imposed by the courts for violation of the Colorado drinking age law.
Posting Requirement
The Colorado Drinking Age Poster must be posted on the premises of establishments which are licensed to sell alcohol at retail. The poster must be displayed at all times in a prominent place of the licensed premises. (C.R.S., Sec. 44-3-901(6)(h)).
Violation of these provisions is punishable by a fine of up to $250 for each offense.
