Under the City of Pittsburgh Fair Employment Ordinance (Chapter 659.02), covered employees are protected from illegal discrimination based on their race, color, religion, age (over 40), ancestry, national origin, place of birth, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, familial status, disability, pregnancy, child birth, medical conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth, status as a survivor of domestic violence, and/or hairstyles and protective and cultural hair textures and hairstyles.
The Pittsburgh Employment Rights Poster lists all the prohibited practices based on an individual’s protected class status. The poster also includes the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations (PghCHR) contact information. The PghCHR investigates complaints of alleged discrimination in employment within the City of Pittsburgh.
Posting Requirements
The Pittsburgh Employment Rights Poster must be displayed in a conspicuous place by every employer with five (5) or more employees, employment agencies, and labor organizations subject to the Pittsburgh Fair Employment Ordinance.
