The Arkansas Handgun Prohibited Poster displays a “no” symbol over the image of a handgun and the text: “Carrying a handgun is prohibited.” The poster also cites the relevant section of the Arkansas Code Annotated.

The A.C.A states that the person or entity in charge of any physical location may prohibit the carrying of a concealed handgun  by placing a written notice at each entrance which states that “carrying a handgun is prohibited.”

Posting Requirement

The Arkansas Handgun Prohibited Poster must be posted at each entrance of a physical location in order to prohibit concealed carry on the premises (A.C.A. 5-73-306[18][A]). The text must be clearly readable from at least 10 feet away. If the place does not have a roadway entrance, there must be at least 1 written notice posted within every 3 acres of the place as well as on the premises.

The above does not apply to a publicly owned and maintained parking lot if the concealed carry licensee is carrying or has left the concealed handgun in his or her motor vehicle, or to a public university, public college, or community college which has not expressly adopted a policy expressly disallowing the carrying of a concealed handgun by staff members in the buildings or on the grounds.

As of 7/31/2017, a private employer may not prohibit an employee who is a concealed carry licensee from storing or transporting a handgun in the employee’s personal vehicle on the employer’s parking lot. The employer may still prohibit individuals who are not employees from entering the parking lot with a handgun, or from storing a handgun in their vehicle on the employer’s lot.
