The Miami-Dade County Alcohol Drinking Age poster provides information on the prohibition against selling or dispensing alcoholic beverages to persons under 21 years of age, the penalties associated with it, and how to report a violation of the law.

The Miami-Dade County Code of Ordinances requires the owner or operator of a business establishment that sells or dispenses alcoholic beverages for consumption on or off the premises to display this notice where alcoholic beverages are either displayed, purchased, or consumed.

“Business establishment” is defined within the code as including any place of business or any club, organization, person, firm, corporation or partnership wherein one person directly or indirectly pays another for the purchase or dispensing of an alcoholic beverage, for consumption on or off the premises. This includes but is not limited to:

  • golf or country clubs
  • veteran’s fraternal or benevolent organizations
  • grocery stores or drug stores
  • night clubs, bottle clubs, bars, taverns, restaurants, grills
  • filling stations, convenience stores

Posting Requirements

The Miami-Dade County Alcohol Drinking Age notice must be posted in a place on the premises where it is clearly discernible by persons to whom alcoholic beverages may be sold or dispensed. Bona fide restaurants without a restaurant bar are are not required to display this notice for patrons, but are required to display the notice where it will be visible to all employees of the business.

Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine not to exceed $500.00, imprisonment not to exceed 60 days, or both. Each day of continued violation shall be considered a separate offense.
