The Denver Anti-Discrimination Poster informs employees and/or the public that the posting establishment is subject to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Denver Anti-Discrimination Ordinance, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of specified protected traits:
Race, Color, Religion,, National Origin, Ethnicity, Citizenship, Immigration Status, Gender, Age, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, Marital Status, Source of Income, Military Status or Disability.
Employment Discrimination is prohibited in the areas of:
- Housing and Commercial Space
- Public Accommodations
- Private Educational Institutions
- Private Health and Welfare Services
The Denver Anti-Discrimination Poster also provides information on how to contact the Denver Anti-Discrimination Office to file a complaint.
Posting Requirements
The City and County Of Denver Anti-Discrimination Poster must be displayed by every person subject to the Anti-Discrimination Ordinance (except private residences and rental duplexes of fewer than 5 units). The ordinance requires that the poster remain posted in a conspicuous place where business or activity is customarily conducted (Sec. 28-104).
Employers are subject to the ordinance if they have employed 20 or more employees for at least 20 calendar weeks in the current or previous calendar year.
Failure to post notices, maintain records, file reports, or provide records as required are considered discriminatory practices under the Ordinance. Discrimination is subject to investigation by the Denver Agency for Human Rights and Community Partnerships. If the Agency finds probable cause, the responding party may be sued in civil court or required to complete compulsory mediation with the charging party.
