Who should post and distribute the California Fair Housing Fact Sheet Poster and Pamphlet?
The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) recommends that businesses engaged in the rental, leasing, financing, construction, insurance, or sale of residential real estate, post and distribute to individuals and agencies in the housing market post and distribute the DFEH Fair Housing Fact Sheet Poster and Pamphlet to inform prospective renters, borrowers, and buyers of the laws that protect individuals from discrimination and harassment in the provision of housing.
How does California law protect individuals in the California housing market?
The following laws protect individuals in the acquisition of, access to and enjoyment of housing accommodations:
- the Fair Employment and Housing Act
- the Unruh Civil Rights Act
- the Ralph Civil Rights Act
- the Disabled Persons Act
- the California Trafficking Victims Protection Act
Under these law, housing providers are prohibited from discrimination and harassment based on the following actual or perceived characteristics:
