The Defense Contractor Whistleblower Poster informs employees of defense contractors and subcontractors that they have whistleblower rights under the law. It provides the web address and phone number of the Department of Defense Hotline for employees who have reported wrongdoing and believe they have suffered reprisals.
Title 10 U.S.C. 2409 prohibits defense contractors, subcontractors, grantees, subgrantees, and personal services contractors from discriminating or retaliating against employees for reporting a reasonable belief that their employer has engaged in gross mismanagement of funds; an abuse of authority; a violation of a law, rule, or regulation; or a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety.
Contractors covered by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 52.203-14 or Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS) Part 252.203-7004 are required to prominently display a DOD hotline poster in common work areas within business segments performing work under the contract and at contract work sites. The Defense Contractors Whistleblower Poster specifically directs itself to Defense Contractors and Subcontractors.
