The Hillsborough County Alcohol Health Warning poster provides information on the risks of alcohol consumption and warns patrons not to drink and drive, mix alcohol with prescription drugs, or drink while pregnant.

The Hillsborough County Alcoholic Beverage Public Awareness Ordinance requires all vendors of alcoholic beverages to post this alcohol health warning in a conspicuous place in their premises. The ordinance is applicable countywide.

“Vendor” means any person who owns or operates a business establishment which sells at retail any alcoholic beverage for on-premises consumption; and any person who owns and operates a liquor store or other business establishment which has retail sale of alcoholic beverages. This includes but is not limited to:

  • bars, taverns, and pubs
  • restaurants
  • country clubs
  • grocery stores and drugstores
  • convenience stores and filling stations

Posting Requirements:

The Hillsborough County Alcohol Health Warning notice must be posted in a conspicuous place, clearly and visibly legible to all patrons entering the premises.

Upon a first violation of this ordinance, a vendor shall be issued a written notice of violation requiring that the violation be cured within 60 days of issuance of the written notice of violation. In the event that a violation is not cured within 60 days of issuance of the written notice of violation, the County may enforce violations of this article by any means available under the Hillsborough County Code of Ordinances or as may be available under State law.
