Oklahoma No Smoking Poster

The Oklahoma “Smoking in Public Places and Indoor Workplaces Act” requires the person who owns or operates a place where smoking or tobacco use is prohibited by law responsible for posting a sign at each entrance to the building indicating that the place is smoke-free or tobacco-free.  Persons responsible for posting signs or decals are:

  1. In privately owned facilities, the owner or lessee, if a lessee is in possession of the facilities;
  2. In corporately owned facilities, the manager and/or supervisor of the facility; and
  3. In publicly owned facilities, the manager and/or supervisor of the facility.

The Oklahoma No Smoking Poster informs employees and patrons of a workplace or facility where smoking is prohibited of the smoking restriction in Oklahoma’s “Breathe Easy” no smoking campaign format.

Where Smoking is Prohibited

Oklahoma law requires indoor workplaces and public places to be smoke free.

  • An “indoor workplace” includes work areas, employee lounges, restrooms, conference rooms, classrooms, employee cafeterias, hallways, any other spaces used or visited by employees, and all space between a floor and ceiling that is predominantly or totally enclosed by walls or windows, regardless of doors, doorways, open or closed windows, stairways, or the like.
  • Indoor places used by or open to the public
  • Restaurants (unless they provide enclosed and separately ventilated smoking rooms that meet the laws’ requirements for protecting nonsmoking areas)
  • Most public and private educational facilities
  • Public transportation

Enforcement

Any person who knowingly violates this act is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not less than Ten Dollars ($10.00) nor more than One Hundred
Dollars ($100.00).

Display the Oklahoma No Smoking Poster to inform employees and patrons of the no smoking restriction and avoid fines or other penalties for non-compliance.
