Nevada has announced that the state’s minimum wage rates for the upcoming fiscal year that begins July 1 will remain the same as last year. The rates will stay:
- $7.25 per hour for workers who receive health benefits from their employers
- $8.25 per hour for workers who do not receive health benefits from their employers
In 2006, Nevada voters approved a constitutional amendment requiring that the state’s minimum wage be recalculated annually. Rates are adjusted by comparing increases in the federal minimum wage over $5.15 per hour, or, if greater, by the cumulative increase in the cost of living, whichever is greater. The cost of living adjustment for this year increased over last year, but it’s still less than the $2.10 increase in the federal minimum wage that took effect in 2009.
