Trenton and Montclair are the Latest New Jersey Cities to Pass Mandatory Paid Sick Leave Ordinances

Trenton and Montclair have enacted paid sick time laws similar to those enacted by other New Jersey cities, including East Orange, Passaic, and Paterson. Under both cities’ legislation, employers with 10 or more workers must provide their employees with up to 40 hours of paid sick time accrued on an annual basis. Employers with less than 10 employees will only be required to offer up to 24 hours of paid sick time annually. Employees will earn one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked.

Trenton and Montclair ordinances will go into effect March 4, 2015. Covered employers must post Paid Sick Leave Poster in the workplace and provide new employees with written notice of their rights under the new laws.

The cities sick leave posters are expected to be release near March, 2015, as further regulations may be issued. Please make sure to check back at Compliance Poster Company website for more details!
