In July we reported in our blog that the New York Legislature had passed a bill (A08106) that could repeal the 2011 New York State Wage Theft Act. In addition to eliminating the annual wage notice requirement, the law would also increase the penalties for an employer who failed to provide a wage notice to a new hire or appropriate wage statements to employees. However, the bill has not yet been sent to the Governor. Employers are therefore still required to distribute pay notices to all their employees between January 1st and February 1st.
Compliance Poster Company’s HR Research and Compliance Department Team will continue to watch New York legislation closely. Any updates regarding this bill will be posted, so make sure to visit our website soon.
