The Wash Your Hands Poster reminds employees and customers to wash their hands before leaving the restroom, for their own safety and the protection of others. The poster is illustrated with an image of a hand under running water.
Why Should I Post the Wash Your Hands Poster?
Post the Wash Your Hands Poster to remind employees and the public of the importance of hand-washing, encourage sanitary behavior, and reduce employee absenteeism due to illness.
Failure to wash hands can spread germs such as Salmonella, E. coli O157, norovirus, and others that can make employees and the public sick. Germs can be spread from the restroom to the rest of the workplace and can remain on objects for several weeks. According to a 2018 study by the American Society for Microbiology, roughly 1/3 of Americans do not wash their hands after using a public restroom.
The Wash Your Hands Poster is intended for general industry use and can be placed above the sink basin or at the exit of the restroom. Post at the office or workplace, in a retail store, or anywhere that encourages sanitary practices to preserve public health. Use in conjunction with the Proper Hand Washing Procedures Poster and/or the How to Wash Hands Poster to encourage best practices and a hygienic environment.
Restaurants and other food preparation environments may wish to post the Wash Your Hands Poster for Restaurants.
