Compliance Poster Company has created new Indiana Smoking is Prohibited entrance signs as required by the state’s new non smoking law. The new law prohibits smoking in public places, places of employment, in certain state vehicles and within 8 feet of a public entrance to a public place or place of employment effective July 1, 2012.

Indiana’s new law requires employers to inform employees and applicants that smoking is prohibited. Employers and public places must post signs at each public entrance. The signs must contain specific statutory language regarding smoking distance. Under the law, employers and public places must also remove ashtrays from the premises.

Bars, casinos, certain private clubs, and retail tobacco shops are exempt under the law. Local laws can have stricter requirements for banning smoking.
