Vermont to Hike Minimum Wage Rate

Workers in Vermont can expect to see a bump in their pay checks

Effective January 1, 2013 the minimum wage in the State of Vermont will increase by 14 cents to $8.60 per hour.  In addition, the basic wage rate for tipped employees increases by 7 cents to $4.17 per hour. Keep in mind employees total earnings during a pay period must equal or exceed the $8.60 per hour. If a combination of tips and the basic wage do not meet that requirement, the employer must make up the difference.

Vermont employers may make deductions from wages earned for meals and lodging that is furnished and accepted by the worker. The increases for such provisions are below.

  • Breakfast……………………..$2.90 daily
  • Lunch………………………….$3.25 daily
  • Dinner…………………………$3.62 daily
  • Full Board…………………….$9.77 daily or $68.43 per week
  • Nightly Lodging……………..$3.98 daily
  • Full Room……………………$23.94 weekly
  • Full Room and Board……..$82.69 per week
