What’s new?
The redesigned Iowa Unemployment Insurance notice includes the following changes:
  • new unemployment insurance claim filing website address and navigation instructions
  • when to file a claim and the day claims are effective. Claims should be filed the same week the work ended or hours were reduced. Claims are effective on Sunday of the week the claim is filed.
  • web address where the Unemployment Handbook is available for complete information about rights and responsibilities
  • web address to register for work and learn about local work availability
  • new IowaWorks toll-free telephone number and two new center locations
  • updated formatting and notice date
What stayed the same?
  • employees are advised they may be eligible for benefits if their employments ends or work hours are reduced
  • UI benefits are made possible by taxes paid by the employer
  • delay in filing may result in loss of benefits
