Rhode Island Discrimination is Illegal: Inquiries about Applicant Arrest Records Restricted

In 2013, Rhode Island’s governor signed legislation regarding Fair Employment Practices, expanding protections afforded applicants. State law prohibits employers from asking applicants about arrest records, and makes it unlawful to ask about convictions until at or after a first interview (with certain exceptions).

The law is now effective and the protections have been added to the Rhode Island “Discrimination is Illegal” labor law posting included on the Rhode Island All-On-One™ Poster. Peel ‘N Posts are available for this single required change.

This mandatory change is effective now. Call Compliance Poster Company at 800.817.7678 to speak to a Compliance Advisor about updating your Rhode Island state/federal labor law poster today.
