What’s new?
Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently signed the Firearm Carry Act of 2021 (HB 1927) into law. Starting September 1, 2021, individuals are allowed to carry a firearm in public without a government-issued permit or license, provided they are not otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm under state or federal law. Private businesses have the right to prevent individuals from bringing firearms into their business by giving written notice that entry with a firearm is prohibited. The written notice must include language from Penal Code Section 30.05. The notice must also be in English and Spanish, and appear in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height. |
