Who must post the Belmont, CA Minimum Wage Poster?
The Belmont Minimum Wage Ordinance applies to businesses that are required to pay the Belmont Business License Tax or that maintain a facility in Belmont. Every covered employer must post the Belmont Minimum Wage Poster in a prominent place of the workplace where it will be seen by all employees. Failure to post this notice is a violation of the Belmont Municipal Code.

The Belmont, CA Minimum Wage Poster:
- identifies the effective minimum wage rate, employee protection from retaliation, and an employee’s right to file a compliant or civil action for any violation
- informs employees that if they need additional information or believe they are not being paid correctly they can contact the Belmont City Manager’s Office or the San Jose Office of Equality Assurance
- informs employers and employees that the City of Belmont will investigate possible violations and may take enforcement action
What else does the law require?
- Each employer must give written notification to each current employee and to new employees (at the time of hire) of the employee’s rights under the Belmont Minimum Wage Ordinance.
- Every employer must provide each employee, at the time of hire, with the employer’s name, address and telephone number in writing.
- Each employer must maintain for at least three years for each employee, a record of his or her name, hours worked and pay rate.
