The Louisiana Workforce Commission has updated its list of state-mandated labor law posters with the release of the new 2011 Earned Income Credit (EIC) poster.
Some of the important changes to the EIC notice
- Increase in Income Eligibility Limits
Louisiana’s 2011 EIC notice reflects increases in the income levels for EIC eligibility in 2011. The increased dollar amounts apply to either single or married couples filing jointly claiming tax credits based upon having three or more qualifying children, two qualifying children, one qualifying child, or no qualifying children. - Elimination of Advance EITC
The former 2010 EIC notice featured a section of text explaining the four conditions to receive Advance EIC payments. On the 2011 EIC notice, the section has been renamed and substantially rewritten. The section is now entitled “Advance Payments of EITC Eliminated” and the text has been revised to explain the repeal of “Advance EIC” payments by the Education Jobs and Medicaid Assistance Act of 2010. The 2011 EIC also gives notice that any advanced EITC payments received in 2010 must be reported on the taxpayer’s Form 1040 or Form 1040A, even if the taxpayer will owe no tax or will not get a refund. - ARRA Notice Removed
Last year, text was added to the state’s 2010 EIC notice regarding a temporary increase in EITC and the expanded credit for workers with 3 or more children under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Since those changes apply only to 2009 and 2010 tax years, the ARRA notice has been removed from the 2011 posting.
In addition to the new 2011 EIC poster, minor changes were also made to the National Guard poster. The new 2011 EIC poster will be featured on the latest Louisiana All-On-One poster or as a Peel ‘N Post update for previous poster purchasers. Louisiana is published in both English and Spanish.
