The Davis-Bacon and Related Acts (DBRA) apply to contractors and subcontractors that perform federally funded or assisted contracts greater than $2,000 for the construction, alteration, or repair of public buildings or public works. Every employer covered by the labor standards of the DBRA must display a federal labor law poster where it can be seen by employees.
This says that all contractors or subcontractors that work on federal contracts over $2,000 pay workers or mechanics the current wage rates and benefits found in the Davis-Bacon wage determination for laborers and mechanics who do similar jobs in the area. This law must be included in covered contracts. The Davis-Bacon and Related Acts also provides laborers and mechanics on covered federally financed or assisted construction contracts the right to receive the current local wage. Additionally, the Davis-Bacon prevailing wage provisions were added to about 60 “related Acts” that provide federal assistance for construction by means of loans, grants, guarantees and insurance.
