Oregon has announced the state minimum wage rate for 2015. The minimum wage rate will rise from the current rate of $9.10 per hour to $9.25 per hour effective January 1, 2015. Oregon’s minimum wage rate is tied to inflation, as measured each year by the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The 15-cent increase represents a 1.7% increase over the 2014 minimum wage rate. Oregon has the nation’s second-highest minimum wage, behind only Washington which is soon expected to announce its 2015 minimum wage rate.
Oregon is one of many states that tie annual minimum wage rates to the CPI. These include Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio, Vermont and Washington. In addition, many local jurisdictions have community minimum wage rates that align with the CPI.
