Paid Family Leave
The District of Columbia Universal Paid Leave Amendment Act, also known as the Paid Family Leave Law, was recently amended as follows:
- Parental, and family and medical leave have been expanded to 12 weeks.
- Employees can take up to 14 weeks of combined parental and prenatal leave within a 52-workweek period.
- The maximum weekly benefit amount has increased to $1,049.
Equal Employment Opportunity
The District of Columbia Human Rights Act was amended to prohibit employers, employment agencies, and labor organizations from taking discriminatory action against prospective and current employees based on their homeless status. The Equal Employment Opportunity posting has been revised to include the new protected category under the Human Rights Act.
Federal Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal
The redesigned EEOC posting is included on District of Columbia 2023 All-On-one Posters and Mobile Poster Paks.
Who must post?
- Every employer is required to post and maintain the Paid Family Leave posting in a conspicuous location where notices to employees are customarily posted. (DC Act 21-682 § 106(h)(i))
- Every employer subject to the District of Columbia Human Rights Act must post and keep posted the Equal Employment Opportunity posting in a conspicuous location. (DC Code § 2-1402.51)
- Every employer who has 15 or more employees is required to post the Federal Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal in a place where it can be seen by employees and applicants. (42 USC 2000e-10)
