What changed?
The Tennessee Wage Regulations/Child Labor Act posting has been revised as follows:
- New text clarifies that employees must receive a 30-minute rest break or meal period if scheduled to work six hours consecutively, except adult employees in workplaces that provide ample opportunity to rest.
- New hour restrictions for minors 14 and 15 years of age.
- Minors 16 and 17 years of age may now be employed in any place where the average monthly gross receipts from the sale of intoxicating beverages exceed 25% of the business’ total gross receipts and the minor is not permitted to take orders or serve intoxicating beverages.
Who must post?
Every employer is required to comply with the posting requirements of T.C.A. § 50-2-103. Posting and maintaining the Tennessee Wage Regulations/Child Labor Act notice in at least two conspicuous locations of the workplace fulfills the statutory posting requirement.
