What’s new?
Paid Leave Oregon
  • Applies to: Most Oregon employers, regardless of size.
  • Covers: Most employees working in Oregon who have earned at least $1,000 in the prior year.
Paid Leave Oregon Rights and Benefits and Responsibilities

Starting September 3, 2023, employees:

  • are eligible for up to 12 weeks of paid time time for:
    • Family Leave – The birth, adoption or foster placement of the employee’s a child, a family member’s serious illness
    • Medical Leave – The employee’s own serious illness
    • Safe Leave – The employee or a family member experiences sexual assault, domestic violence, harassment, or stalking
  • are entitled to job, health benefits, and pension protection while on leave
  • are protected from discrimination or retaliation for exercising their rights
  • receive weekly benefit payments while on leave, the amount of which depends on their prior year’s income. Employees and most employers contribute to Paid Leave Oregon funding starting January 1, 2023.

Who must post?

  • All covered employers must display the approved Paid Leave Oregon posting in each of the employer’s buildings or worksites in an area that is accessible to and regularly frequented by employees. Employers must provide the posting to remote employees by hand, mail, or electronic delivery.
  • Employers must post or provide the posting to employees in each of the languages that the employer typically uses to communicate with the employees. (OAC 471-070-1300)
