As previously shared in our blog, the city of St. Louis passed a law on August 14th to increase its minimum wage rate. Minimum wage employees who had worked at least 20 hours within a calendar year in the City had to be paid $8.25 per hour starting October 15th. Under the new ordinance, employers were also responsible for displaying a notice in the workplace that advised employees of the new rate and of their rights under the ordinance. However, a day before the law was scheduled to go into effect a court ordered the City to not implement the new minimum wage ordinance. St. Louis has stated in their website that it will appeal the court’s decision.
Until a final decision is made regarding a new minimum wage rate, no minimum wage increase will occur. Compliance Poster Company will continue to monitor this matter. Stay tuned!
