Effective January 1, 2011 Montana’s Minimum Wage will increase by 10 cents from $7.25 to $7.35 per hour.
In the 2006 General Election, Montana voters enacted Initiative 151, which adjusts the Minimum Wage based on the annual cost-of-living index. The increase in the minimum wage is based upon any increase in the U.S. City Average Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers for All Items (CPI), which is calculated by September 30 of each year. The initiative also states that the minimum wage must be the greater of either the current state or federal minimum wage.
Montana employers are required to update their Minimum Wage poster to remain in compliance with the applicable minimum wage law.
