How did the Minimum Wage posting change?
The Maine Minimum Wage posting has been revised with the new minimum wage rates, effective January 1, 2021:
- General minimum wage rate: $12.15 per hour
- Direct cash wage rate for service employees: $6.08 per hour
The minimum salary threshold for exemption from overtime has also increased to $700.97 per week.
How did the Regulation of Employment posting change?
The Maine Regulation of Employment posting has been revised to include information about the new Earned Paid Leave Law. (MRSA Title 26 § 637)
- Effective January 1, 2021, employers with 10 or more employees must provide one hour of paid leave for every 40 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours of paid leave per year.
- Employees can start accruing leave on their first day of work and may begin using the leave after 120 days of employment.
- All employees of covered employers may use the paid leave for any reason.
Who must post?
All employers are required to conspicuously display the Maine Minimum Wage and Regulation of Employment postings in a place that is accessible to employees. (MRSA Title 26 § 42-B)
