Minimum Wage
Effective January 1, 2025, California’s minimum wage rate increased to $16.50 per hour. The Meals and Lodging Credits increased by the same percentage as the increase in the minimum wage.
Notice to Employees – Injuries Caused by Work
An employee may consult a licensed attorney to advise them of their workers’ compensation rights. In most instances, attorney’s fees are paid from the injured employee’s recovery. Posting date: 10/2024.
Whistleblowers are Protected
An employee who does not engage in a protected activity, but their employer believes they did or will in the future, is perceived to be a whistleblower and is protected. In addition to other remedies, an employer who retaliates against a whistleblower is subject to civil monetary penalties. Posting revised: 1/14/25.
California Law Prohibits Workplace Discrimination and Harassment
The law prohibits discrimination and harassment based on:
- Race, including traits associated with race, such as hair texture and hairstyle.
- A single protected characteristic or a combination of two or more protected characteristics.
- An employee’s status, or their family member’s status, as a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and certain other types of violence.

Family Care & Medical Leave & Pregnancy Disability Leave
- Employees who are on leave under the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) may be eligible for Paid Family Leave (PFL) benefits. A link is provided for more information.
- If an employee, who is disabled by pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition, is also eligible for CFRA leave, they have the right to take both pregnancy disability leave (PDL) and CFRA leave related to the birth of their child.

Your Rights and Obligations as a Pregnant Employee
An employee who is pregnant, has a pregnancy-related medical condition, or is recovering from childbirth may:
- If CFRA eligible, take CFRA leave to bond with a new child or for the employee’s own or a family member’s serious health condition (not related to pregnancy).
- Be eligible for Employment Development Department benefit programs, including state disability insurance and PFL benefits.
