In 2006, Arizona’s voters enacted the “Raise the Minimum Wage for Working Arizonans Act”. This Act established an Arizona minimum wage and provides for annual increases based on increases in the cost of living. The Industrial Commission of Arizona determined Arizona’s minimum wage will increase from $7.35 per hour to $7.65 per hour effective January 1, 2012. In 2004, Florida voters also approved a constitutional amendment which created the Florida Minimum Wage. The law requires the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity to calculate the minimum wage rate each year based on the increase in the federal Consumer Price Index (CPI). Florida’s minimum wage will increase from $7.31 per hour to $7.67 per hour, with a minimum wage of at least $4.65 per hour for tipped employees, in addition to tips, effective January 1, 2012. In addition, Montana’s minimum wage is adjusted annually based on changes in inflation measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Due to an increase in the CPI, Montana’s Minimum Wage will increase from $7.35 per hour to $7.65 per hour effective January 1, 2012. Montana’s minimum wage labor law poster is mandatory to post in the workplace for employees to view.
In 2003, San Francisco voters approved Proposition L, the Minimum Wage Ordinance which requires the minimum wage be adjusted each year based on increases in the regional consumer price index. The law applies to employees who work two (2) or more hours per week. San Francisco, California’s minimum wage rate will increase from $9.92 per hour to $10.24 per hour effective January 1, 2012. The minimum wage labor law poster is also mandatory to post in the workplace where employees can easily view it.
