US DOL Launches Handy Plain-language FLSA Compliance Videos

Who says you need to be a lawyer to understand compliance with the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)? FLSA compliance just got easier with a new tool introduced by the US Department of Labor (DOL). The DOL has created a series of short, easy-to-understand videos explaining employers’ basic responsibilities under the FLSA so employers can skip the mind-bending “legalese” of FLSA regulations and jump into compliance.

The videos are a fun, animated approach to employers’ legal responsibilities. The videos are each only about five minutes long and are packed with lots of good information without being burdensome. The videos explain in plain language the basic elements of the law, giving working examples of how the law applies in a pleasing format. They answer questions frequently asked by employers and describe some of the consequences for legal violations.

Here’s what the DOL video library includes:

1: Coverage – Does the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) apply to my business?

2: Minimum Wage – What minimum wage requirements apply to my business?

3: Deductions – Can I charge my employees for uniforms or other business expenses?

4: Hours Worked – Do I have to pay for that time?

5: Overtime – When do I owe overtime compensation, and how do I pay it correctly?

Bookmark the FLSA Compliance Video webpage so you can refresh your memory of FLSA requirements and stay abreast of changes at any time. We highly recommend this program.
