What’s changed?
Last year, Governor Whitmer signed Executive Order 3 to reorganize the state government for a more efficient administration. The Order creates the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity and renames the Department of Talent and Economic Development to the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. The Order also abolishes the Michigan Talent Investment Agency and Workforce Development Agency.
The mandatory notices listed below have been revised with the responsible agencies:
  • Minimum Wage and Overtime – Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. Employers must post this notice pursuant to MCL 408.417(7).
  • Paid Medical Leave Act – Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. Employers with 50 or more employees must post this notice pursuant to MCL 408.968(8).
  • Information About Unemployment Benefits – Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency. Employers must post this notice pursuant to UIA Admin. Rules 421.105.
  • Michigan Safety and Health Protection on the Job – Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. Employers must post this notice pursuant to MCL 408.1067.
  • This Workplace Covered by the Michigan Right to Know Law & New or Revised SDS – Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. Employers must post these notices pursuant to MCL 408-1014j.
  • Youth Employment Standards Act – Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. Employers must post this notice pursuant to MCL 409.113.
What else changed?
The Information About Unemployment Benefits notice has also been revised to reflect that employees can no longer file a claim for benefits by phone. Employees must file their claim online through the Michigan Web Account Manager.
