What’s New?
On March 18, 2020, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was enacted granting paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave benefits to employees in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency. The FFCRA is effective from April 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. The FFCRA applies to all employers with fewer than 500 employees and public agencies with one or more employees. The DOL has created a FFCRA poster for federal employers and another for all other employers.

What are the Benefits?
  • Employees are entitled to two weeks (80 hours) of paid sick leave if they or a family member are subject to a quarantine or isolation order, have symptoms and are obtaining a COVID-19 diagnosis, or are caring for an individual who is subject to a COVID-19 quarantine or isolation order.
  • Employees are entitled to take up to 2 weeks of paid sick leave plus up to 10 weeks of expanded family and medical leave if they need to care for a child whose school or childcare facility has been closed due to COVID-19.
Who Must Post?
All employers covered by any provision of the FFCRA are required to post the applicable FFCRA poster in the workplace. Although employers are only required to post the FFCRA in English, CPC has created both posters in bilingual English/Spanish formats.
