What’s new?
  • Rules to be Observed by Employers – Effective July 1, 2020, each employer must pay to each employee a wage of not less than:
    • $8.00 per hour worked if the employer offers qualified health benefits, or
    • $9.00 per hour worked if the employer does not offer qualified health benefits.
  • Daily Overtime 2020 Annual Bulletin – Clarifies when employees who earn less than 1 ½ times the minimum wage rate are entitled to overtime pay and when employees who earn more than 1 ½ times the minimum wage rate are entitled to overtime pay.
    • Employees who earn less than $12.00 per hour (if offered qualified health benefits) or $13.50 per hour (not offered qualified health benefits) are eligible for overtime pay for:
      • Over 8 hours of work in a 24-hour period; or
      • Over 40 hours of work in a work week.
    • Employees who earn more than the hourly rates above are eligible for overtime pay for:
      • Over 40 hours of work in a work week.
    • The employer must verify the rates above $12.00 per hour and $13.50 per hour based on qualified health benefits being offered or not offered to employees to pay overtime for over 40 hours of work in a work week.
Who must post?
The law requires every employer to conspicuously post and keep posted on the premises where any person is employed printed summaries of N.R.S. Chapter 608 furnished by the Nevada State Labor Commissioner. (N.R.S. § 608.013)
