New Jersey SAFE Act Posting

The 2023 New Jersey SAFE Act Peel ‘N Post™ update sticker adheres to existing New Jersey All-On-One™ Labor Law Posters and Mobile Poster Paks to ensure the mandatory workplace posters are compliant.

The New Jersey Security and Financial Empowerment Act also known as NJ SAFE Act requires employers to provide up to 20 days of unpaid leave during any 12-month period to eligible employees who have been the victim of an incident of domestic violence or a sexually violent offense or whose parent-in-law, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, child, parent, spouse, domestic partner, or civil union partner, or any other individual related by blood to the employee, or any other individual that the employee shows to have a close association with the employee which is the equivalent of a family relationship was victim of such an act. The New Jersey SAFE Act posting helps inform employees about the New Jersey SAFE Act. The unpaid leave allows an employee:

  • to seek medical attention for physical or psychological injuries;
  • to obtain services from a victim services organization; pursue psychological or other counseling;
  • to participate in safety planning for temporary or permanent relocation;
  • to seek legal assistance to ensure health and safety of the employee or the employee’s relative; and
  • to attend, participate in, or prepare for a criminal or civil court proceeding relating to an incident of domestic or sexual violence.

What Changed?

The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development recently redesigned the posting to help clarify the SAFE Act. The posting has a new layout and color scheme, which complements other New Jersey postings. The new posting date is 4/22.

Posting Requirements

All New Jersey employers with 25 or more employees are required to display the New Jersey SAFE Act posting in a conspicuous place accessible to employees. (N.J.S.A. 34:11C-3(6)(d))
