The Tennessee Human Trafficking Poster informs victims of human trafficking that they are protected under United States and Tennessee state law. The poster also provides information on how to contact the Tennessee Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline and the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline.
Victims of human trafficking may be forced or coerced into engaging in commercial sex, housework, farmwork, or other any other activity. Since 2007, the non-profit, non-governmental National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline has received 145,764 reports on potential victims of sex or labor trafficking. The Resource Center provides help and referral to services for victims and survivors of human trafficking, as well as training and general information for those who wish to provide assistance to victims.
Posting Requirement
This is not a required poster. However, under the Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline Act, it is “strongly encouraged” that the Tennessee Human Trafficking Poster be posted by any government entity or private business, especially those which offer a place of assembly or entertainment, transportation, lodging, dining, medical or leisure activities or services; those which are licensed by the state or any political subdivision; and those which engage in commerce. (T.C.A. § 39-13-313)
The Tennessee Human Trafficking Poster should be posted in a location in the establishment where it is visible to employees and the general public, such as near the entrance or where other notices are posted.
