City of Malibu, CA Minimum Wage Poster Details

  • Who is covered: The City of Malibu’s Minimum Wage Ordinance applies to all employees who perform at least two hours of work in a particular week within the Malibu city limits.
  • Posting requirement: All employers must display the Malibu Minimum Wage Poster in a conspicuous and accessible place at job sites, in the primary language used by the employer to communicate with employees.
  • Minimum Wage – all employers: The poster informs employees and employers of the effective minimum wage rate and effective date. The minimum wage rate is adjusted each July 1st based on the Consumer Price Index. Employers are required to pay covered employees no less than the effective minimum wage rate for all hours worked.
  • Notice to Employees – information about job and pay: The poster describes the initial compensation statement that an employer must provide to each new hire, which includes information about the employer entity, the employee’s wage rate, and the basis for the employee’s pay. The poster also details the content of the written pay statement that employers must provide to employees each pay day pursuant to California Labor Code 226(a).
  • Your Rights are Protected: The poster provides information about an employee’s right to file a complaint or private lawsuit for violation of the Ordinance, when complaints must be filed, and other persons or entities that have standing to sue.
