Under Florida law, veterinarians are required to inform clients that they have the right to receive a written prescription to fill elsewhere or to have it filled directly at the veterinary clinic. Staff must document the client’s choice using a one-time acknowledgment form signed by the client, confirming they are aware of their prescription options.
Posting Requirements
Effective July 1, 2026, the Notice of Veterinary Prescription Options must be displayed near the point of sale or where checkout occurs. (FL Statutes § 474.224)
