The Georgia Alcohol Drinking Age Poster informs patrons that each of the following acts constitutes a violation of Georgia law:
- Purchasing or possessing alcoholic beverages if you are below the legal drinking age
- Misrepresenting your age for the purposes of acquiring alcoholic beverages
- Purchasing alcohol or furnishing alcohol for someone who is below the legal drinking age
- Selling or furnishing alcohol to anyone below the legal drinking age (for alcoholic beverage licensees and their employees)
Legal drinking age in the state of Georgia is 21.
Posting Requirements
The Georgia Alcohol Drinking Age Poster must be posted in a conspicuous place or places by each retail business establishment in the state which is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages of any kind. (GA Code § 3-3-24.2)
The commissioner of the Department of Revenue, Alcohol and Tobacco Division may take punitive action against violators, up to and including revocation of the state retail dealer’s license of any retail business establishment which fails to comply with this code section. The undertaking of any punitive action allowed under this Code section shall not prohibit criminal prosecution for sale to underage persons.
