California Wage Order #16 – Certain On-Site Occupations in the Construction, Drilling, Logging and Mining Industries Poster

The California Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) Wage Orders regulate wages, hours and working conditions.  Employers must comply with the IWC Wage Order and California labor laws applicable to their business or industry.

  • “Construction occupations” includes all job classifications associated with construction, including alteration, demolition, building, excavation, renovation, remodeling, maintenance, improvement, and repair work.
  • “Drilling occupations” includes all job classifications associated with the exploration or extraction of oil, gas, or water resources work.
  • “Logging occupations” includes any work for which a timber operator’s license is required, including the cutting or removal or both of timber or other solid wood forest products and work incidental thereto.
  • “Mining occupations” includes miners and other associated and related occupations required to engage in excavation or operations above or below ground.

Posting Requirement:

California Labor Code section 1183(d) provides, “Every employer who is subject to an order of the commission shall post a copy of the order and keep it posted in a conspicuous location frequented by employees during the hours of the workday.”
