The City of New York has implemented several laws and regulations that include requirements for distribution and posting of materials and other mandates for employers. The City of New York, NY Retail Workplace poster is not required, but may be a convenient way for retailers in the City to fulfill their posting requirements.
The poster includes the following notices:
- Retail Fair Workweek: employers, including subcontractors and temporary help firms, whose workers perform certain tasks at a retail business in the City are required to display this notice. (NYC Administrative Code, §20-1205)
- Time Off to Vote: all employers in the state of New York are required to display this notice stating employees are guaranteed requested time off for voting. (NY Election Law, Title 1, Sec. 3-110(4))
- Pregnancy Rights Paid Sick Leave*: employers with four or more employees in the City are required to notify employees of pregnancy and employment rights.
- Temporary Schedule Change: all employers in the City of New York are required to display this notice that covers information on the right to temporary changes to their work schedules for certain personal events. (NYC Administrative Code, §20-1205)
- Stop Sexual Harassment: all New York City employers are required to display this notice that includes an explanation of sexual harassment as a form of unlawful discrimination in English and Spanish. (NYC Administrative Code, §8-107(29))
- Paid Safe and Sick Leave: all New York City employers are required to display this notice in the workplace in an area that is visible and accessible to employees, and must provide a written copy to employees when they begin employment or when their rights change. (NYC Administrative Code, §20-919)
