An employer cannot refuse to hire, discharge, or discriminate (in compensation or in terms, conditions, or privileges of employment) based on the protected characteristics listed above. The Ordinance also prohibits an employer from discriminating or retaliating against an employee who has exercised his or her rights under the law or for participating in an investigation by testifying, assisting, or participating in the matter of investigation.
