The City of Pittsburgh Fair Employment Ordinance (§ 659.02) prohibits workplace discrimination. Protected categories include race, color, religion, age (over 40), ancestry, national origin, place of birth, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, and medical marijuana patients. Coverage also extends to pregnancy-related conditions (including partners), survivors of domestic violence, and cultural hair textures or head coverings.
The Pittsburgh Employment Rights Poster lists all the prohibited practices based on an individual’s protected class status. The poster also includes the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations (PghCHR) contact information. The PghCHR investigates complaints of alleged discrimination in employment within the City of Pittsburgh.
Posting Requirements
The Pittsburgh Employment Rights Poster must be displayed in a conspicuous place by every employer with five (5) or more employees, employment agencies, and labor organizations subject to the Pittsburgh Fair Employment Ordinance.
