District of Columbia No Animals Allowed Poster
To ensure the safety of customers and to comply with the District of Columbia Health Regulations, live animals shall not be allowed on the premises of food establishments. Only service animals assisting a person with a disability or security dogs with an on-duty officer are permitted on the premises. (25 DCMR § 3214) All other live animals, including pets, are not allowed in dining, food preparation, or storage areas.
Food employees are prohibited from caring for or handling any animals present to prevent food contamination.
Food establishments are highly encouraged to display this poster at the entrance or in a location easily seen by patrons to inform them of their policy on live animals.
