Product Description

The New Hampshire Dogs Welcome Poster informs patrons that companion dogs are welcome in certain outdoor dining areas. Restaurant owners may allow dogs in outdoor dining areas under the following conditions:

  • the dog and owner must access the outdoor dining area from the exterior of the restaurant.
  • all food must be prepared, and all utensils stored in the interior of the restaurant.
  • the restaurant owner must display a notice, such as the New Hampshire Dogs Welcome Poster, advising patrons dogs are allowed on the premises.
  • the owner of such dog controls dog.
  • the owner of such dog keeps the dog on the ground and out of the aisles, and does not permit the dog to eat or drink using glasses, plates, or utensils from the restaurant.
  • the staff does not pet or play with dog.
  • the restaurant owner asks the dog owner to remove his or her threatening or aggressive dog.
  • the restaurant owner calls 911 is such dog bites or hurts another person.
  • the outdoor dining area is maintained clean, and surfaces that have been contaminated with dog excrement or other bodily fluids such as urine, saliva, and vomit, are immediately cleaned and sanitized.
  • dogs are not allowed in food preparation or production areas.

Posting Requirements

The New Hampshire Dogs Welcome Poster is not a required notice. Restaurants can voluntarily display the notice in places accessible to the public if the restaurant allows dogs on the premises. The notice must contain the following text: “Companion dogs are only allowed in certain outdoor dining areas of this establishment. Only service dogs are allowed in other parts of this establishment. Your companion dog must be licensed and currently vaccinated against rabies to remain in the outdoor dining area with you. You are responsible for controlling your dog at all times.” (RSA 466:44)
