The New Hampshire Paid Family and Medical Leave Program (PFML) is a voluntary plan where New Hampshire employers and eligible employees can purchase a paid family and medical leave insurance plan that provides up to 60% wage replacement for covered workers for up to six (6) weeks per year for absences from work for covered common life events. Leave could be taken for the following reasons:
- The birth of a child and the care of the newborn child within one year of birth;
- The placement with the employee of a child for adoption or foster care and the care of the newly placed child within one year of placement;
- Caring for the employee’s spouse, child or parent who has a serious health condition; or
- Any qualifying exigency arising our of the fact that the employee’s spouse, child or parent is a covered military member on covered active duty, or caring for a covered service-member with a serious injury or illness if the eligible employee is the service-member’s spouse, child, parent, or next in kin.
Employers can purchase New Hampshire PFML insurance from MetLife, the state’s insurance partner for the plan. Individuals who work for a New Hampshire employer may purchase NH PFML for themselves if their employer does not provide NH PFML insurance or an equivalent benefit.
The NH PFML Benefits Leave Notice is an optional poster that summarizes the leave benefits, including who is eligible for coverage and what is covered under the law.
