The Northern Mariana Islands Minimum Wage Poster provides information on provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) under effect in the U.S. territory of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). The poster covers:
- The current federal minimum wage rate for the commonwealth
- Overtime Pay
- Child Labor
- Tip Credit
- Nursing Mothers
- Additional Information
The Northern Mariana Islands are covered by the minimum wage provisions of the FLSA, except that the minimum wage rate for the territory is set below the federal minimum wage rate for U.S. states. As established by the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007, the CNMI minimum wage will increase by $.50 on September 30 every year until it reaches the level of the general federal minimum wage.
Effective September 30, 2018, the federal minimum wage in the commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) is $7.25. The CNMI minimum wage is now equal to the federal minimum wage.
The 2018 Northern Mariana Islands Minimum Wage Poster must be posted by every employer with one or more employees covered by the minimum wage provisions of the FLSA. It must be posted in every establishment where a covered employee works, so as to permit them to readily observe a copy. (29 C.F.R. §516.4)
